Cost & Risk Management

EDC's cost consultants provide innovative cost management solutions and extensive experience in delivering value-driven solutions for our clients.

It's in the Detail...

We pride ourselves on our attention to detail. This is true no matter the size of a project or the complexity involved. Every project gets the same level of support and attention to detail.

Accuracy and Value Are Key.

Accuracy is at the core of what EDC do and everything we deliver. By understanding the detail, we can be confident what we deliver is accurate.

We understand that time is important and that is why we use the latest technologies to deliver faster and smarter in everything we deliver without compromising quality.

We utilise software to generate take-offs from 3D & 2D Drawings. Understanding the detail is ingrained in our DNA!

NEXT-GENERATION METHODS

Smart use of technology results in improved resource delivery and project delivery, while a lean management structure ensures clean lines of communication.

TEAMING AND CO-CREATION IS KEY

Ensuring that all stakeholders are on-board and communication channels are streamlined and clear is vitally important. We provide end to end service delivery and will integrate seamlessly into the Client Team & Design Team to support all departments efficiently and constructively.

EARLY MEP RISK AUDIT (EMRA)

In Construction, incomplete and over-complicated Mechanical & Electrical Designs are a common occurrence that often leads to cost overruns and project delays. Studies have shown that up to 50% of Construction Projects end up over budget and up to 40% of construction projects miss project milestones due to “poor design”.

The perception is that “poor design” & “cost overruns” are part and parcel of a Construction Project, however, this does not have to be the case when an Early MEP Risk Audit is undertaken at the outset of a Construction Project.

Our standalone offering of an Early MEP Risk Audit (EMRA) provides a safety net to ensure successful project delivery by filling in the blind spots and anticipating any incomplete or overcomplicated design elements. It ensures budgets are aligned with design with early insight into the project’s health, along with an early warning for any potential cost, design, or schedule issues.

COST MANAGEMENT

Our MEP Cost Engineers have the experience to identify expenditure risks at an early stage. Our skilled team has detailed knowledge and understanding of all cost control and cost budgeting requirements and fully understand the importance of delivering the best solutions possible for our clients.

At EDC Cost Control is a continuous process and every project receives the same attention to detail regardless of the size or complexity associated.  The emphasis is to provide consistent updates on the commercial performance of the project via timely and easy to follow reporting. Our hands-on, direct and pro-active approach ensures certainty, transparency, and clarity throughout a project’s lifecycle.

Our experienced MEP Cost Engineers provide accurate Mechanical & Electrical Baseline Budgets based on our knowhow, industry knowledge, and current market conditions.  This process provides certainty for our clients as providing accurate Mechanical & Electrical Baseline Budgets from the outset of any project mitigates potential unnecessary cost increases.

PROCUREMENT MANAGEMENT

Ensuring clients have the right contracting and procurement strategy from the project outset is critical to ensure the programmes successful delivery. EDC works in tandem with our clients on all aspects of procurement from identifying and selecting suppliers through to equipment inspections and technical assessment to ensure compliance.

EDC ensures our clients receive the right equipment at the right time, at the right price and the right quality to achieve optimum performance and value while minimizing programme risk. This allowing allows our clients to operate more sustainably, efficiently, and effectively

Our MEP Cost Engineers work closely with our MEP Design Engineers as to ensures that the client is getting value for money, and technical suitability from the outset of the project

EDC will review the various equipment technically to ensure compliance with the proposed basis of design, client’s requirements, industry best practice, in addition to the local compliance regulations. This mitigates any potential project delays or commercial implications down the line

RISK MANAGEMENT

Our approach to project risk management ensures a clear, data-driven review of the risks associated with the cost, performance and scheduling of your project. EDC is continually adapting to the changing engineering and construction industry landscape ensuring our solutions are designed to deliver you accurate solutions to ensure your project is completed on time, on budget and on spec.

EDC’s team of MEP Design Engineers will review the proposed Mechanical & Electrical Basis of Design as to ensure compliance with the client’s requirements, industry best practice, industry standards, and local compliance regulations.

This process gives assurances to the client that the proposed Mechanical & Electrical Basis of Design is fit for purpose and hence mitigates any potential project delays due to gaps in the Mechanical & Electrical Designs which may come to light during the project lifecycle.

EDC’s team of MEP Cost Engineers will review the Mechanical & Electrical Budgets or Cost Estimates as to ensure its accuracy against the proposed Mechanical & Electrical Basis of Design.

This process gives assurances to the client that the Mechanical & Electrical Budgets or Cost Estimates are accurate and hence mitigates the risk of cost increases due to gaps in the Mechanical & Electrical Budgets or Cost Estimates which may come to light during the project lifecycle.

EDC’s team of MEP Design Engineers will review the OFCI Equipment technically and highlight any non-conformances which will have any impact technically, commercial, and schedule wise.

As OFCI Equipment integrates with other equipment and systems it is critical that all integration elements have been captured and that the proposed solution meets the client’s requirements, industry best practice and standards.

VALUE MANAGEMENT & VALUE ENGINEERING

Early involvement at the Mechanical & Electrical Design Stage allows EDC to identify areas of innovative cost savings and cost efficiencies.

EDC’s MEP Cost & Design Engineers have the experience and know how to improve and enhance designs as to reduce unnecessary complexity, construction costs, running costs, maintenance cost, and construction timelines.

So, from the outset of the project the client knows they are getting a fit for purpose, cost efficient, and easy to construct Mechanical & Electrical Design.

EDC will review the proposed Mechanical & Electrical Basis of Design with a view to identifying areas of innovative cost savings & cost efficiencies.

EDC’s MEP Cost & Design Engineers have the experience and know how to improve and enhance designs as to reduce unnecessary complexity, construction costs, running costs, maintenance cost, and construction timelines.
