EDC - Engineering Design Consultants (EDC) has unveiled its ambitious 'EDC 2030' Growth Strategy, setting out a roadmap to triple company revenue by 2030 while continuing to invest in people, innovation, sustainability and client service excellence.
The announcement marks a significant milestone in the company's evolution. Today, EDC employs 120 people across Ireland, the UK and Turkey and has grown its workforce by more than 120% since 2020. The business has established itself as one of the largest privately owned MEP, Energy and Sustainability consultancies operating across Ireland and the UK, delivering projects across the residential, commercial, healthcare, education, life sciences and infrastructure sectors.
Central to EDC 2030 is a vision to become the UK and Ireland's leading experts in sustainable MEP engineering. The strategy will focus on organic growth, the development of specialist technical services, investment in digital delivery and innovation, and strategic acquisitions that complement the company's long-term ambitions.
The strategy builds upon a strong foundation of client relationships and project delivery. Today, 82% of EDC's revenue is generated from repeat business, reflecting the trust and long-term partnerships the company has developed with clients across both markets.
To support this next chapter, EDC has established a new Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Advisory Board, creating the leadership capacity required to accelerate growth while maintaining the technical excellence, collaborative culture and client focus that have become hallmarks of the business.
Richard O'Farrell, Chief Executive Officer
Robert Higgins, Executive Director
Sara Steele, Executive Director
Gareth Murphy, Executive Director
Richard Coughlan, Executive Director
The new structure is designed to deliver tangible benefits for clients and employees alike, including faster decision-making, greater technical expertise, increased investment in innovation, enhanced client support and expanded career opportunities across the organisation.

Alongside the Executive Leadership Team, EDC has appointed an Advisory Board comprising experienced business and industry leaders who will provide strategic guidance across governance, leadership development, commercial growth and long-term business planning.
Brian Cremin CDir, CEO of 3SIXTY and Chair of EDC's Advisory Board.
Anne O'Leary, entrepreneur, business leader and strategic growth advisor.
Michael Fenlon, former Executive Leadership Team member at Etex Group
Collectively, they bring decades of experience across leadership, governance, international business, commercial growth, organisational development and strategic transformation.
Together, these investments position EDC to scale sustainably while remaining true to its founding values of being Collaborative, Ambitious, Proactive, Progressive and People-Centric.

EDC 2030 represents the next chapter in the company's journey. By combining ambitious growth targets with continued investment in people, leadership, innovation and sustainability, EDC is positioning itself to meet the evolving needs of clients while creating long-term opportunities for its employees and partners.
As the business continues to expand across Ireland and the UK, its focus remains unchanged: delivering engineering excellence, building lasting client relationships and creating a positive impact on the built environment through progressive, sustainable engineering.
“The launch of EDC 2030 is an important moment for our business. It gives us a clear framework for where we are going, how we intend to grow, and the type of company we want EDC to be over the next decade. The construction and engineering sectors are changing rapidly. Clients are demanding more technical certainty, greater sustainability expertise, stronger digital delivery and better collaboration across projects. Our responsibility is to evolve ahead of that demand while continuing to protect the culture and values that brought us to this point. This strategy is ultimately about building a stronger business for our clients, our people and the wider industry.”
“What makes this next stage particularly important is that it is not growth for the sake of growth. The intention behind EDC 2030 is to create a more resilient, progressive and connected organisation that can continue delivering high standards across every office, discipline and project type. The new Executive Director structure allows us to lead with greater clarity, accountability and alignment as the business continues to expand across Ireland and the UK. It also creates more opportunities for our people to develop and contribute at leadership level.”
“I am honoured to serve as Chair of the Advisory Board at EDC and to support Richard O’Farrell and the exceptional Executive Leadership Team as they drive such an ambitious and forward-looking vision for the business. EDC has built a remarkable reputation for engineering excellence, innovation, and sustainability, and I am excited to contribute to the organisation’s continued growth and expansion as part of its 2030 strategy.”
