Project Overview:
The Charter brings new life and activity to Gravesend with 242 new homes in a key sustainable town centre location. The proposal has been carefully designed with forms of architecture that respond to the unique context. A considered layout of buildings defined by quality landscaping will provide an accessible and improved network of routes and spaces, knitting back together this integral part of Gravesend.
The project sees 242 residential apartments built, with 20% of those being Discounted Market Rent units, and a multi-storey car park built on land currently occupied by the Horn Yard and Market Square car parks beside Gravesend Borough Market and to the east of the High Street.
EDC Scope of Works:
EDC provided the Mechanical, Electrical, Energy Design Services in addition to site support during construction. EDC worked closely with partners Henry Construction & Reef Group to coordinate the smooth delivery and installation of the MEP services.
A fabric first approach was taken with renewable energy systems incorporated into the design including PV, whole house mechanical ventilation systems and waste water recovery units to achieve the energy targets.
