EDC Appointed to the Carrigrohane Student Accommodation Development.

EDC is delighted to have been appointed as the MEP & Energy Consultants for new 623-bed Carrigrohane Student Accommodation Development on the former Coca-Cola bottling site on Carrigrohane Road, Cork, Ireland. 

Cork City Council has given the green light to CA Ventures to build a 623-bed student accommodation development on Carrigrohane Road. This development will be the largest student development in Cork as well as one of the biggest student accommodation projects in the Munster region and for Ireland. 

Formerly used as a bottling plant for the Coca-Cola company, the development is ideally placed for easy access to the University College Cork and Cork Institute of Technology. 

This 10-storey development will have a gross floor area of approximately 19,267 sq m. and include an onsite gym, common networking spaces, cycle storage, studio space and a sky lounge with views of the River Lee. 

As the MEP and Energy Consultants for this project EDC will be working with CA Ventures on the following: 

  • Ground and 6th-floor student amenity spaces including staff office spaces, gym, study area, coffee lounge etc.
  • Apartment types:
    • 1-bed studio
    • 4-bed clusters
    • 5-bed clusters
    • 6-bed clusters
    • 7-bed clusters
    • 8-bed clusters
  • Part L compliant design including Air/Water Heat Pumps supplemented with high-efficiency gas boilers.
  • Clusters hot water and heating supplied via Heating Interface Units fed from a site-wide district heating system
