Great news for our Dublin office with EDC appointed as the Building Services Engineers for this prestigious development!  The Land Development Agency (LDA) has appointed a design team headed by Reddy A+U to progress the redevelopment of the Central Mental Hospital (CMH) campus in Dundrum, Dublin 14.

This development will include in excess of 1,200 new homes as part of the planned redevelopment of the CMH’s 11.5-hectare site. The plans include opening up the 11.5-hectare site and re-integrating it with the Dundrum neighbourhood.

EDC appointed as the Building Services Engineers for the Mental Health Campus Redevelopment

“We are very excited to have the opportunity to help deliver this much-needed landmark housing development. This site offers a unique opportunity to develop over 1200 near-zero energy homes while retaining the integrity of the existing heritage buildings”. Scott Somers Dublin Operations Director.

“This is a truly unique and exciting opportunity to open up a historic piece of land that has been closed off and inaccessible to the wider community since the 1800s.

We plan to transform the Dundrum and Windy Arbour area for the better with a landmark sustainable and inclusive new neighbourhood of in excess of 1,200 new homes, incorporating significant period buildings and mature landscaped grounds. Given the immediate proximity to quality transport nodes including LUAS stations and high-frequency bus routes, sustainability principles will form a major part of the brief to the top-tier design team that we have appointed.

– LDA CEO John Coleman.

Planning application expected mid-2021 with construction to start in 2022, subject to An Bord Pleanála approval.
