EDC is delighted to be providing the MEP & Fire engineering services for Henley Construct on this 60-apartment development spanning 7-floors and including 3 ground floor commercial units.
The location is at the entrance of a regular weekly street market that has been in operation since the 13th century. This market will be able to remain operational during construction.
This development will also include an additional commercial unit which will be used as a bar/music venue. These commercial spaces will be designed and built to achieve BREEAM Excellent Rating.
Project challenges:
This site fronts on to Surrey Street market which is a famous street market which dates back to the 13th Century. As this street is fully pedestrianised this will bring challenges from a design/construction perspective (incoming utilities, gas, water electricity).
As per our business continuity plan for Covid-19 all our staff in our UK and Irish offices now working remotely & conversing daily via Microsoft Teams delivering this design and many others remotely which is proving to be extremely successful & efficient.
