Housing Plan Submitted to An Bórd Pleanála for the former Cork Asylum St. Kevin’s

Great news for Cork with the Land Development Agency lodging a planning application to An Bord Pleanála for a strategic housing development which will include 266 new homes.

This development will be set over 24,000 sqm and homes will range from one-bed to four-bed, offering a range of accommodation for larger and smaller families, couples and single people.

New-build residential accommodation will include a mix of townhouses (46), duplex townhouses (54), duplex apartments (54) and walk-up apartments (52).

The plan also includes a creche, an office enterprise centre in the converted St Kevin’s Chapel, and the repurposing of the derelict former St Kevin’s building to accommodate 60 apartments.

EDC is delighted to be providing Mechanical and Electrical Services for this development.

Our vision is to transform this defunct and derelict former Victorian Mental Asylum lands into a new vibrant residential community for the people of Cork. This underutilised site, on the south facing Shanakiel Ridge, looking over the River Lee, has the opportunity to be an exemplar housing development offering housing for all sectors of our society in our community.
