Plans granted by An Bórd Pleanála for the former St Kevin’s Hospital Site, Cork.

EDC is delighted that planning permission has been granted for the St Kevin’s Hospital and Grounds Strategic Housing Development in Cork City for the Land Development Agency. We look forward to working with all our partners on this prestigious development which will bring safe, secure and sustainable homes to the community.

This development will be set over 24,000 sqm with 266 residential units ranging from one-bed to four-bed, offering a range of accommodation for larger and smaller families, couples and single people.

This development will also include the restoration of the former St Kevin’s Hospital to provide 60 apartments, a 440sqm creche and the conversion of the former chapel building to provide a new Office Enterprise Centre.

EDC is delighted to be providing Mechanical and Electrical Services for this development.

The St. Kevin’s development will have a strong focus on sustainability, with public transport links to the city and to other local amenities. These public transport services are likely to be further improved under the Cork Metropolitan Area Transport and Bus Connect Strategies.

The Land Development Agency has already commenced the delivery planning for the project. It is intended to commence work on-site as soon as possible with the first homes available by 2023.

Our vision is to transform this defunct and derelict former Victorian Mental Asylum lands into a new vibrant residential community for the people of Cork. This underutilised site, on the south facing Shanakiel Ridge, looking over the River Lee, has the opportunity to be an exemplar housing development offering housing for all sectors of our society in our community.
