EDC has developed hugely over the past 4-5 years which has created its own difficulties, but also great opportunity with regards to systems development, new product development and alignment as a market leader in BIM and Modelling services.
To be successful, we have had to ensure we are providing a platform of stability, innovation and future planning.
Some of the key change are:
- Doubled in size and continued growth
- Completely revamped the drawing department by changing drawing software from 2D AutoCAD to 3D Revit
- Opened our 3rd office in Dublin
- Expanded service offerings of Fire engineering, IES Thermal Modelling, SAP Calculations
- Introducing cloud-based services for easier access to files and communications
- Hired dedicated Marketing & HR staff
These changes have created exciting times, but with the pace and growth of EDC, we have had to ensure the appropriate systems have been implemented to maintain the discipline, and quality that EDC is known for. One of the strengths of EDC is that we don’t do things the way we’ve always done them. This is one of the fundamental reasons why EDC has seen such growth and will continue to grow.
We are certified under ISO 9001:2008 QMS and are currently in the process of upgrading to ISO 9001:2015. We have seen this as an excellent opportunity to modernise our systems and invest in Lean. For us we see lean 5S as not only of benefit to all our staff, but also to our clients. The very definition of Lean 5S is “A structured methodology providing a sequence of activities aimed at removing waste from the workplace by means of improved organisation, visual communication, and overall cleanliness.” This allows our workplace to function as efficiently as possible for everyone across all locations. The follow on effect for clients is that we have a clear and consistent operations excellence, engineering design and customer-facing environment across all 3 Cork, Dublin and London offices.
We are aware that our growth must be achieved by ensuring the goals of our team members, offices and clients are met ensuring we continue to provide the continued quality and innovation on which EDC is built on. It has been an exciting few years, and we look forward to continued growth in the coming years.
